After 34 invigorating years at Ohio State, on May 2, Alan Escovitz resigned his position as external affairs director for the Office of the CIO.

Escovitz joined the staff of the Office of the CIO in 1999 and held a dual appointment with the College of Pharmacy prior to his retirement in 2000. As external affairs director, he carved out a niche to do outreach and bridge technology with the rural community.

During his career at Ohio State he received numerous accolades, awards, and distinctions. Notable achievements include his work for co-development of the Transportable Satellite Internet System (TSIS) and the Connecting Rural Ohio Wireless Neighborhood Project; Computerworld Honors Laureate; recipient of six communicator awards of distinction and a Telly Award for his series, "Recent Advances in Drug Therapy," televised in six states over the Ohio Pharmaceutical Education Network; coeditor of four pharmacy books and nearly 50 publications, papers, and posters; the William L Blockstein Award of Merit for outstanding and/or sustained achievement and quality performance in the field of continuing pharmaceutical education.

Escovitz received his bachelor's degree in political science from Ohio University, and his master’s and doctoral degrees from The Ohio State University in higher education administration and Pharmacy/Adult Education, respectively.

Escovitz is married to Suzanne, a graduate of Capitol University. He is a life member of Ohio State's Alumni Association, and now resides in Asheville, North Carolina.
