Looking for ways to reduce your carbon footprint while at work? Try some of these simple changes for a more environmentally-friendly workplace.

  • If you have a window, bring in a house plant. House plants absorb indoor pollution... plus it helps remind you to use natural light in your workspace rather than the overhead lights. While you're at it, use your old coffee filter and grounds as fertilizer rather than placing it in the garbage.
  • Start a magazine exchange with your colleagues. This can reduce the amount you spend on subscriptions, plus it reduces the amount of magazines sent to the landfill.
  • Coordinate on and off campus errands with your colleagues.
  • If possible, turn down the thermostat during the winter and up during the summer.
  • Take the stairs rather than the elevator.
  • Remind your colleagues about the simple changes you've made at work to reduce your carbon footprint and encourage them to do the same.
